Parenthink is a family organization and educational app for iPhone and iPad. It is designed for a parent, legal guardian, or authorized caregiver—not for a child to create an account or use independently. This policy explains how the app handles personal and sensitive family information.
Information handled
- Child profiles and optional child or custom-recipe photos; feeding, pumping, sleep, growth, medication, vaccine, activity, homework, meal-plan, recipe, bookmark, and reminder information entered by you.
- An optional opaque Apple user identifier and any name or email Apple supplies with your permission. Parenthink never receives your Apple Account password.
- Subscription product, entitlement, purchase, renewal, expiration, and restore status processed by Apple and RevenueCat. Parenthink does not receive full payment-card details.
- App preferences such as language, appearance, notification settings, selected child, sync status, and pending local changes.
- Your current location only when you tap Use Current Location for Nearby Schools. Parenthink sends the requested search area to Apple Maps but does not save school results, add them to CloudKit, or use location in the background.
- When you choose Add to Calendar for an activity, Parenthink sends a one-time draft snapshot to Apple’s system calendar editor. Parenthink does not read your calendars or existing events, retain calendar event identifiers, or silently update or delete exported events. You choose the destination calendar and whether to save or cancel.
- For Premium Apple Watch use, a paired watch may cache the selected child, child list, Premium status, today’s summary, reminders, pending medication, and recent action status. Quick-log actions return to the paired iPhone for validation and local-first saving.
- For the Premium Today widget, Parenthink writes a limited selected-child summary and recent or upcoming items to an app-group container shared only with the widget. The widget does not access CloudKit or RevenueCat directly.
Storage and iCloud Family Sync
Family content is stored locally first. Parenthink does not operate a server that receives child records. If a Premium owner explicitly enables Family Sync, supported records are copied to the owner’s private CloudKit database in iCloud.com.michaelabadi.parenthink.sync. If the owner shares the workspace, participants permitted through Apple’s CloudKit sharing can read and edit its supported family data.
Invited collaborators may edit an accepted shared workspace without Premium. Before an invitee’s active local family cache is replaced, Parenthink creates a protected local backup and does not merge that previous family into the owner’s workspace. Bundled recipes, bundled articles, and RevenueCat purchase state are not placed in CloudKit.
Purpose and disclosure
Information is used only to provide app functions, synchronize an enabled workspace, deliver requested local notifications, restore purchases, apply Premium access, and respond to support requests. Parenthink does not sell personal information, display third-party advertising, or use child or health data for cross-company tracking.
Apple processes iCloud, Sign in with Apple, notifications, App Store, StoreKit, WatchConnectivity, location permission, and Apple Maps searches under Apple’s policies. RevenueCat processes purchase identity and entitlement information needed to provide Premium. The watch does not access CloudKit or RevenueCat directly. Family members you authorize through CKShare can access the shared workspace. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to protect users and the service.
Retention, deletion, and security
Local records remain until you delete them or delete the app. CloudKit data follows the owner’s iCloud and sharing controls. Subscription history follows Apple and RevenueCat retention rules. Deleted synchronized records use temporary tombstones so deletion can reach other devices. Protected pre-share backups remain only on that device until restored or discarded.
Parenthink uses iOS file protection, encrypted platform networking, CloudKit access control, and local-first writes. No system can guarantee absolute security. Protect your device passcode and Apple Account, verify invited participants, and remove access when it is no longer appropriate.
Your choices and children’s privacy
You may use core features without Sign in with Apple or Family Sync. You can edit or delete family records, disable notifications, disconnect Apple sign-in, restore purchases, stop local sync, leave a shared workspace, or stop sharing as owner. Because child information is sensitive, enter or share it only when authorized and do not post it in public support issues.
